Co-Operation

Definition

A co -operative is an autonomus association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic,social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprises.

Values

Co-operative are based on the value of the self-help responsibility,democracy,equity and solidarity.In the tredition of their founders,Co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty.

Principles

The co-operative principles are guidelines by which co-operative put their value in the practice.

Department of Co-Operation

Under the Minister of Co-operation, the department is headed by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies who looks after the administrative matters relating to 11690 Co-operative Societies. The affairs of the following categories of Co-operatives are administered by the Head of Department noted against each to whom the powers of Registrar of Co-operative Societies have been delegated by Government.

APEX Board

"The Kerala State Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd.No.4330" Is the State level apex Institution of housing Societies, It was registered on 23.09.1970, under the Kerala Co-operative societies Act,1969.It is also known as "HOUSEFED".

Housefed started business on 24.09.1970. Formerly the name was "Kerala Apex Co-operative Housing Society Ltd.No.4330" and it was changed as per the order of the Registrar of Co-operative societies dated 24.03.1979. At present Government of Kerala and 205 primary housing co-operative societies are "A" class members of Housefed. Housefed is affiliated with the National Co-operative Housing Federation of India,New Delhi.

Borrowing from Lic of India, National Housing Bank. Hudco,Debentures,Commercial Banks, and Share Capital Contribution from Goverment of Kerala and Share Collection from the member societies and Deposits from Co -operative societies.

Housefed provides housing loans to individuals through the affiliated housing Co -operative societies for a maximum period of 15 years.The Individual members should submit loan application to their primary housing co-operative Society.The loan sanction release and its repayments are in between the members and the society.Then the society remits the amount as per the demand of the Housefed.
